The advantage of having CCT surveillance is that it prevents loan sharks from causing trouble at peoples' houses. It also deters terrorists from planting bombs or attacking any famous landmarks or places. As some of the CCT surveillance nowadays are so "smart" that may be able to help police in their investigations by identifying what kind of guns were used and to be able to hear sounds from quite a distance, I think it is an advantage for installing CCT surveillance. Moreover, statistics have already proven the usefulness of installing CCT surveillance. Since, the number of harassments by loan sharks and crime rates in New York have dropped, I think that it is already enough evidence that it is a great advantage that CCT surveillance are installed.

The disadvantage of having CCT surveillance is that people will not know when they are being tracked by the authorities and it can also be slightly chilling to know that their every movements are being watched. Another disadvantage is that a rather large sum of money have to be spent on the CCT surveillance. This includes the installation and the maintenance of the CCT surveillance. Moreover, the installation of CCT surveillance does not necessarily mean that no crime will occur and that it will a hundred percent safe. As time passes, I believe that terrorists and other evil-doers will manage to find a way to escape the detection of the CCT surveillance. They may even be smart enough to counter the CCT surveillance by disabling them or by other methods.
