Timothy Tan (35) 2nd Entry, Comment On Sylvester's Entry

I think that the example given by Sylvester is a good one because without the footage captured by the surveillance cameras in the store, the culprits may have escaped before police can get the full picture of what had happened and the time taken to solve the crime might have taken longer.

However besides retails stores, he should emphasize that CCTVs must be strategically placed in key public areas like at the airports, ferry terminals, customs to look out for would be criminals – like wanted persons, drug smugglers or terrorist trying to get in and out of Singapore.  Take the case of Mas Selamat, he knew that all exits out of Singapore would be watched so he decided to take a boat out to Johor where he managed to escape capture for quite some time.  I feel that Sylvester did really not emphasize the importance of have CCTVs for cases like this.   I also think that he could have given more examples of advantages in addition to the one he wrote on.
