The advantages of installing surveillance cameras are to help reducing the harassment from loan sharks and residential break-ins, as the surveillance cameras would be watching them and they would think twice before they act. Also, using surveillance cameras can help to deter terrorism too. In addition, by installing these surveillance cameras it can help to reduce people from committing a crime and Singaporean would feel safe at everywhere, as they know that they are being watched.
Despite of having so many advantages, there are also disadvantages. People would feel uncomfortable because they do not have any privacy on what they doing, as the surveillance cameras will be watching their every move.
In my opinion, I think that Singapore should still install more surveillance around the country despite of the disadvantages. With more of this surveillance cameras, Singaporean would not be fear of the harassment from the loan sharks, break-ins of house and also owner can monitor their maid activities while they are not at home. Furthermore, there would be a drop in the number of crimes as anyone who tries to commit a crime would think of the consequences before they act. Singapore should step up on surveillance cameras in spite of the economic downturn although it cost a lot of money. We should sacrifice this small amount of money to keep the country a safe and peaceful place to live.
I agree but would the overwhelming numbers of CCT surveillance invade into the public's privacy? Just imagine someone watching you everywhere you go, tracking every single move you do at everytime, it is creepy. Others might think so too but it benefits us when tracking crimes.I think that there should be more CCT surveillance but right places.
ReplyDeleteWhen i mean right places, i meant places where troubles strikes most. For example banks and tunnels. Installing the CCT surveillance at these places, should reduce the crime rates.
