I feel that there are many advantages to the CCT Surveillance cameras. Firstly, these cameras will allow people who are about to do something against the law to think twice before doing it. If they know that there are police watching them they will not want to get into trouble. CCT Surveillance cameras can also help to track accidents on the roads to see which party is at fault. It can also catch a close up view on crime suspects so that it would be easier to catch them. People might say that these cameras will intrude their privacy, but these cameras could even safe your life. What do I mean by 'saving your life' ? Lets pretend that you are going to be a victim of a killing spree, however when the killer sees the cameras he would not want to be caught therefore changing his plans of killing you. Thus, I think that the CCT Surveillance cameras is at our advantage as it will keep us safe.

I agree that CCTVs can keep law and order in the society but not everyone should be viewed upon as criminals and be watched over by the police and authorities. Although CCTVs can help catch criminals and murderers easily and protect certain important areas in a country, it may invade into the privacy of others and cause unhappiness. Furthermore, the people must be reassured that taxpayers money is put into good use by ensuring CCTVs installed are fully operating and not simply acting as scarecrows to scare away criminals. I agree that some extent of privacy should be compromised so as to ensure the security and safety of the people so long as the government has some sort of safeguards in place if the CCTVs do not work. The police force should still be ready to tackle any sort of crime acts and maintain peace should CCTVs be damaged. The citizens must be vigilant and cooperate with the authorities to be on their guard.
ReplyDeleteYou said people would think twice before acting out a crime. But the CCTV are installed secretly so that people would not know it there. Therefore, when people do not know that CCTV are installed there watching them, why would they think twice? As you said, it is a killing spree which means the killer would not care about anything and he/she would just kill anyone he/she chooses, the killer would not think about being caught up a CCTV.
